License First Private English Language School “William Shakespeare” First Private English Language School “William Shakespeare” (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science РД 14 – 90/ 26.07.1994) was established in 1994 by Associate Professor Dr. Mihail Petrov. It is the first private English language high school in Bulgaria.           Certificates: Since 2002 the school has been working under the programmes of the American Foundation “Junior Achievement” Bulgaria (preferred business programmes in the European Union). The students who pass a test receive International Certificate for Economic Knowledge and Skills. In 2004 upon an inspection on the quality of education and organization management the school became an accredited member of “Optima” – Bulgarian Association for Quality Language Services. In 2009 the school was awarded its second accreditation. The school maintains European standards in the foreign language teaching (in English, German, Spanish, French, Russian), 5 language levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1) and gives to its students European Language Passport and Portfolio adopted by the Council of Europe. In 2005 the school was awarded by Longman Bulgaria Publishing House with an honorary sign for mutual trust and partnership to the benefit of English learners. In 2010 the school became a member of the Cambridge Schools Association.           The building: First Private English Language School “William Shakespeare” is located in the centre of the city of Sofia, close to the most valuable and significant cultural and historical landmarks of the Bulgarian capital: the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Saint Sofia Church, the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the Foreign Arts Gallery, the National Opera and Ballet House and many others. The school has the relevant facilities: spacious learning premises, a chemistry lab, a music hall, a library and a reading room, computer labs with Internet access, sports hall equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, a fitness gym and a medical room. The computer labs are equipped with state-of-the-art technical facilities in line with the requirements for organizing Cambridge Exams.           Profiles: First Private English Language School offers to its students: Education in a “Foreign Language” profile with intensive English language learning. Within the Foreign Language profile the students can choose one of three options of combinations of subjects: Option 1 : English Language (1st foreign language) German, Spanish, French or Russian (2nd foreign language) Bulgarian language and literature History and civilization Option 2 : English Language (1st foreign language) German, Spanish, French or Russian (2nd foreign language) Mathematics Geography and Economics Option 3 : English language (1st foreign language) German, Spanish, French or Russian (2nd foreign language) Biology and Health Education Chemistry and Environment Protection Education in “Entrepreneurship and Business” profile with intensive English language and Information Technology learning.
