Create your Curriculum Vitae, behavior during interview, networking – these are only a part of all questions related to the topic job application. A detailed CV is not always the most convenient instrument to attract an employer’s interest. I had cases in my practice when the invited candidates have given little information on their education and previous experience. The employer is not always willing to read too much text in the CV.
What do you think: should a team leader or a director present in detail his/her responsibilities within a CV? Keep a balanced way of disclosing personal information. Make it precise, clear and relative to the job vacancy you are applying for.
„Become a professional.” “Achieve success in other professional fields.” “I have various abilities - can I have various professional experiences?”
Every person is unique. This means that his/her abilities, capacity, beliefs are different. He or she has different behavior and approach towards a job. Indeed, career development reflects our own personality and self respect as professionals.
To what extent do we estimate our abilities? Do we under-estimate ourselves?
How to inform my employer that I would like to be promoted? Employers are not able to read each one’s thoughts yet. Communication know-how is a must in order to achieve our goals for professional development. There is a formal communication order defined via in-house procedures, business planning and staff management, individual plans for career development. How can we balance all factors via communication? How can we take advantage of a situation? Define the right moment to act.
Every working atmosphere encourages a typical working behavior and achievement of pre-defined objectives. The organizational culture shapes models of working behavior. Within a company particular qualities are valued and within other organizations employees are encouraged to develop a range of professional and social skills and competencies. What is it necessary for a professional to be valued at work?
Recruitment is sensed to identify and hire an employee who will feel complete at his/her work and will deliver quality work on time. Recruitment is the first phase from the process of creating competent employees.
It provides the opportunity for the newcomers to acquire many in-house capabilities, to get to know the organizational culture and to adapt to the working ambiance. On the other hand, recruitment is key to renew organizations and their connections to the business environment.
What type of recruitment is sustainable ?
An efficient team is a guarantee for the sustainability and the well-being of any organization.
It is the result of everyday interaction between employees and good management. This activity requires time - months, years. The team is influenced by the company organizational culture.
Its establishment is a process that goes on two levels: employees' level - cooperation, coordination, team spirit; managerial level - allocation of responsibilities and empowerment, workload efficient patterns.
The third level is the interteam exchange.
There is no unique recipe for an effective team. Team establishment and management is dependent on the situation, the essence of work, the company values, the employees, the management and company goals.
Better payment? Attractive work? Much free time? More responsibilities? What will stimulate the employee to work in an efficient way and deliver results on time?
Remember: the employee is not a guinea pig! A motivation strategy is implemented in response to the employee’s personality. Motivation is an inherent state of spirit. It shows the inner comfort and willingness to work. Motivators can be factors too little related to the working environment. On the other hand the organizational culture influences the choice and further adoption of techniques for motivation.
The responsible employer has a good sense for the employees. He/she notices their attitude and reactions and adapts managerial tactics to the changing working environment. Openness for a dialogue with employees, two-way feedback, transparency in managerial decisions are key factors to gain employees’ loyalty. Work is not only a means of subsistence, it is a symbol of status in the society and for some people - a sign of personal prestige, a factor for high self-esteem, and a mark of security. Work and the physical workspace can be that shelter that some people are looking for while nothing else in their lives is of much importance for them. For some people work is between 9:00 and 18:00 from Monday to Friday. Such contradictory attitudes could be a source of tension in the team.
