SHOUMEL-M AD is a private limited company. It is located in Shoumen, a town 400 km northeast from Sofia and 90 km from Varna. Initially the company was founded in 1985 with subject of activity including military electronic production. In 1990 SHOUMEL-M started developing and manufacturing civil products. There are two main groups of goods: medical equipment and telecommunication systems. The medical equipment is intended for physiotherapy, cosmetic treatment, electro- surgery etc. The functions of the medical devices are based on the healing and cosmetic procedures with low-frequency, diadynamic, and high- frequency currents, ozoned steam, iontophoresis, brush-massage, electrocoagulation, and others. Now the company is manufacturing a series of cosmetic units named "Advanced line of esthetic therapy BEAUTY STYLE 2000" The main units of the line have microprocessor synthesis and control of the healing and beautifying treatments.They are being manufactured in accordance with the European standards, and tested in authorized Bulgarian labs and clinics. The staff is distributed in the following sectors: Marketing, Research & Development, Production, Quality control, and Administration & Finance. One important organizational unit is the R&D sector. It performs activities concerning new product design and engineering, technological documentation, standards and certification of the production, quality control assignments etc. The company works on R&D projects in cooperation with leading scientific institutes in the country such as Technical University in Sofia, Bulgarian Academy of Science, High Medical Institute- Plovdiv and others.
